SUBMISSION GUIDLINES
The Bruise intends to curate and invite artists to create original work within given guidelines and themes. We also want The Bruise to become a space for sharing work, collaborations and ideas. The Bruise considers unsolicited work from emerging artists, writers and musicians for inclusion in the online magazine. If you would like to submit, please review the following guidelines first. (We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with our editorial philosophy and review the content of previous issues before submitting.) Submit work. We would love your ideas, new themes, your work, or have you curate an exhibit. Just send us the info!

VISUAL WORKS
Send visual art via email JPG, PNG, GIF or PDF image files, or (our preferred method) simply direct us to a URL. Please include a brief biography and/or exhibition history if possible.

For More info visit How to Submit visual work.

WRITTEN WORKS
If you are submitting a finished piece of fiction, nonfiction or poetry, please do so via email attachments in Microsoft Word, HTML, or RTF formats (or just include it in the body of your email). If you are pitching an idea to the magazine, make sure to include other writing samples and a short biography or résumé.

Send all attachments via email to: submit@thebruise.com

AUDIO FILES
If you'd like to be involved in a future sound project, send us a link via email to a website where we can access mp3 downloads of your songs. Send compressed Mp3 sound files, stereo format, Bit Rate 192 kbps, or send us the link to your sound files.

Send all attachments via email to: submit@thebruise.com

If you lack access to email, or don't have digital files of your art, writing or music, you can also send us slides, transparencies, computer printouts, CDs, or Xeroxes of the work via regular mail. Do not send originals. Please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you'd like anything returned to you. (Because we are short-staffed, turnaround time for submissions received by mail is significantly longer than for those received via email.)

All the work we receive is carefully reviewed. By submitting work, you are acknowledging the work is original. You are held accountable for the original copyrights and content of the work. If the work is submitted under the Creative Commons License you must attribute the original source. We will be in touch with you if what you've submitted seems like a good fit for an upcoming issue of The Bruise.
